Preventing violent extremism in the Middle East and North Africa

First Call Partners has significant experience in working with governments to help in preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE). We have recently worked with the German Federal Foreign Office to conduct a strategic assessment of violent extremism and P/CVE initiatives in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Case studies were conducted in Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia to identify lessons learned from donor-funded programmes. These lessons were used to inform a strategy and guidance note to help shape policy and programme responses to violent extremism in the MENA region.

First Call Partners was also commissioned by the UK Government to conduct a rapid global evidence assessment on the effectiveness of interventions to preventing violent extremism in developing countries. This entailed examining global evidence over the last two decades and then synthesising the data to inform the development of enhanced PVE programming. A key focus was on assessing the evidence around how to pre-emptively identify at-risk groups in developing countries and engage with them to prevent a move from non-violence to violent extremism.
